Most of old musical instruments have their origins in ancient Vedic civilisation. Some spread out to other nations and there are many still not known by other parts of world. When you look for musical instruments in India , you will find wide varieties of instruments which still maintain their original design? Harmonium, Veena, Sitar, Thabala, mridangam, many many other. Fun part is none of these were invented recently, they all have history of thousands of years. It’s said that the string based instruments were first used by Naradh, who is son of lord brahma. Music itself is said to be originated from gods, Gandharva were the one experts in music and were entertainers for gods. So there is possibility that all or majority of instruments we use were invented by aliens called gandharvas.
